New dual champion!
Read this posting from the Yahoo group dualbrittanys on the latest Brittany to
receive a Dual Championship.
Pending AKC approval, Timberline Strait to the Point, JH (FC Making R-Point x
Rainbow's Bijou Belle) became a Dual Champion at just over 5 years old,
finishing in the show with a 5 point major Best of Winners win at the Central
New Mexico specialty on Friday, November 5th.
Sawyer finished his FC at 3.5 years old, competing mostly at all breed stakes.
I've been running him in amateur gun dog stakes in the last couple years as well
and have 3 brittany majors on him as well, only needing 1 point to get that
title! I've shown him sparingly throughout his field career, mostly because of
his sheep-shear hair cut he sported for so long. This spring, I decided it was
time to stop the close cuts and start growing it out and go for his dual.
Sawyer comes from a long line of dual champions. His grandfather, DC Sunnyvale
Point of Interest, JH, is one of very few 8th generation dual champions. Sawyer
could've been a 10th generation dual, except his father, FC Making R-Point, was
a hair (or two) above the wicket. Dylan did win the dual dog award at the
Western Futurity in 1997 though!
Many thanks to all that have helped us along through his career, including but
not limited to Ben Garcia of Hideaway Kennels for the field training and
handling, Jerry and Kathy Hogan for believing in my Dylan and breeding their dog
Lucy to him, and to my mom and step dad, Jack and Tracy Haines, for hauling my
horse around, the support, constructive criticism, and so much more.
